february 2007

in a palestinian refugee camp in beirut. palestinians live miserably here, according to wafiq, our lebanese informant/journalist. water is impotable, electricity cutting out 10 hours a day. no official streets, no post. the govt doesn't feel any responsibility to these camps (and after decades, they are still practically camps). not only can't palestinians work in lebanon, but their children can't inherit any property they buy. that having been said, this was a hell of a bash. a real wedding. they passed out juice boxes (pineapple) and cookies like it was the 6th grade dance. no complaints from me in this regard.
