jeanette (pictured here) is an undergrad in dmsc univ's english department. she & her classmates are struggling to understand the meaning of ts eliot's _the wasteland_, and my discussions with her are limited to explaining modernist aesthetics w/her (which has helped me expand into new realms of arabic vocab). i remember liking this poem very much the first time i read it in highschool. i went back and reread this poem sometime last week -- yuck.
